UNIT 470 BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MAY 10, 2015

The meeting was called to order by President Bob McLaren at 11:00 a.m. at the Ala Wai Club House. Present: Bob McLaren, Iris Chung, Bev Drill, Katie Fagan, Mary Farrell, Lily Johannessen, Bill Pearman, Excused: Mary Phillips

Minutes: The Minutes of the February 22, 2015 were approved as circulated and will be uploaded to the website.

Treasurer’s Report: Cash Balance @ April 30, 2015: $15111.52. Operating Loss thru April 30 $441.00. Total Loss thru April 30 $467.00.

Club & Tournament Chair Report: Schedule for the 2016 Sectionals has been sent to ACBL for approval. Unit 470 July – December 2015 game schedule will be ready for posting on the website soon, The WORLDWIDE BRIDGE CONTEST is set for Saturday, June 6 at the Community Church of Honolulu. The Kodamas will direct and the booklets analyzing the hands have been received. On Sunday, June 21, 2015 the Unit will hold a LONGEST DAY STRATIFIED SWISS TEAMS charity event for the Alzheimer’s Association. The team entry fee is $72 for the two sessions. The Unit will furnish beverages, snacks and dessert. Players will bring their own lunch. The September Sectional is renamed the Aloha Sectional and the Sunday Swiss will be the Karen Lanke Stratified Swiss Teams. The 2016 INTERISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP will be on January 31, 2016. Naomi Nortman has informed Bev that she is interested in serving on the Board and will assist Bev. {An email response from the Board confirmed her appointment as Club and Tournament Co-Chair.}

Hospitality Chair Report: Starting with the Kamehameha Sectional, the Unit will not provide lunch on Sunday. There will be snacks throughout the Sectional and a special dessert for the Sunday Swiss. The team fee will be $64 and the 0-100 players who participate in the Saturday pairs game will pay an entry fee of $8 per player for the Sunday Swiss.

Publicity Chair Report: Programs for the Jim Hopkins (May) and Kamehameha (July) Sectionals have been approved. Iris will edit the Kamehameha Sectional program to include the “no lunch” on Sunday, the reduced team fees and the discount coupon for the 0-100 players. The Aloha Sectional program will be sent to ACBL for approval.

Old Business: Iris will order 20 Work smart Resin tables from Amazon. Mary Phillips will receive the tables at Flags Flying.

New Business: Judy Mason will take over the dealing machine and board preparation Next Meeting: June 13, 2015, 11:00AM at the Community Church of Honolulu
