UNIT 470 BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING AUGUST 14, 2016

The meeting was called to order by Bob McLaren at 11:00 a.m. at Kilauea District Park. Present: Bob McLaren, Iris Chug, Katie Fagan, Mary Farrell, Mary Phillips, Lily Johannessen, Naomi Nortman, Ruth Tschumy.

MINUTES. The minutes of the June 26, 2016 meeting were approved and will be uploaded to the website.

TREASURER’S REPORT. Cash Balance: 16,373

TOURAMENT CHAIR REPORT. Naomi will submit the Unit’s request for Ala Wai dates from January –June, 2017. There will be no games on December 25, 2016 or January 1, 2017.

CLUB CHAIR REPORT. To assist directors, Lily will prepare instructions for uploading scores and the use of the Bridge Pad.

PUBLICITY CHAIR REPORT. September-October News has been distributed and is on the website. The September (Aloha) Sectional Program is ready for printing and will be distributed next week and placed on the website.

HOSPITALITY CHAIR REPORT. L & L Hawaiian Barbecue will take over the Fatboys concession at the Ala Wai Club House.

OLD BUSINESS. The Disciplinary Complaint has been resolved. Bob chaired the Committee. Mary Farrell and Pat Brown served as members of the Committee.

NEW BUSINESS.

1. Bylaws Amendment. The Board agreed to petition for the amendment of the Unit 470 Bylaws to allow Board members to act as game directors and be compensated for their service. A vote of the Unit 470 membership will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 prior to the game at Kilauea District Park. The membership will be informed by the Unit 470 News and a notice on the website which will also link to the proposed amendments.

2. Purchase of additional boards. The Board voted not to purchase boards at this time. Mary Phillips will look into the possibility of borrowing boards from HCBUA.

3. NAP D20 Finals. The online finals are set for Oct 8 & 9. Since Lily will be away, Iris agreed to serve as the contact person. The locations for the finals are to be determined.
